Oilspill, sun, Italy, jobs.

Lovely weather here in sunny Scotland, hope it's as good whereyou are.

A few positions available at the moment. See the end for more information.

News wise, pretty much all the focus has been on the Spill in the GoM. I like this article, as it is the closest to the truth of what happened as you are likely to get... Including some strong language. The implication that Big Tony Hayward suspected something may happen, and sold his shares, are a bit on the paranoid side, but it is a hell of a coincidence.

The knock on effect for the area is obviously going to be huge. With speculation that 75,000 jobs may go. The impact on the companies involved has also been pretty large, and with the $20bn promised to help out by BP could make them a hell of a prime target for a takeover.

There is some good news though. Obama has authorised 400 new leases on the sly, and so he obviously sees the need to continue drilling once this dies down, so his rhetoric and his actions seem to be at odds.

In other news, there's another alarmist article about drilling off Italy.

Jobs wise, I am looking for Land based drilling guys for Oman. Senior people from Rig Managers and up. I also need Cementers for the North Sea, Algerian Cementers and Mud Engineers for Algeria, and MPD people from anywhere. Email me if you're interested.
